  3. Alice Boman (SWE)
    Artist image
Hailing from Malmö, Sweden, the singer/songwriter first appeared when she released 2013’s Skisser via Adrian Recordings. Swedish for “sketches,” Skisser was just that – delicate home recordings from her bedroom Boman gracefully unleashed to the world, that were never meant to fall on any other ears but her own.
Alice Boman’s voice hits with the emotional force and haunting fragility of Nina Simone. Timeless and direct, the Swedish singer returns with a wistful collection of songs on EP II, set to be released June 3.

  10. Basia Bulat (CAN)
    Artist image
Breathless, thirsty, dislodged from dreary nostalgia.
Since the age of three, Basia has been sitting on piano stools and trying to hammer things out. It started with her piano-teacher mum, but along the way Basia’s picked up guitar, autoharp, banjo, ukelele, sax and flute. In high-school her instrument was the upright bass – a lone girl among “eight-foot-tall guys, goofing off with the tubas”. There’s a sense of play that still suffuses her music, jostling under the songs of regret and love, want and joy.

Our Love is formed around a mixture of digital pop production, hip hop inspired beats, muted house basslines and a love of shuffling garage that can be traced all the way back to the time of Start Breaking My Heart which are, of course, all filtered through Dan's own unique perspective. The warm analogue sounds of classic soul should not be overlooked either, for they weave themselves most intensely into the records DNA.

Egyptrixx is celestial club music; jeep music for a Saturn desert…there is an exhilarating right-but-wrong tension in all the tracks – a shifting balance between melodic and dissonant, rapturous and antisocial.
In 2015 David Psutka launches his “Halocline Trance” label with Transfer of Energy [Feelings of Power], the third LP under experimental club project Egyptrixx. The music is primitive, minimalist – fixated mainly on texture and weight. Smudged facsimiles of club music; crude and abstract grooves-

Erika Spring began writing music as part of a multimedia project in her schooldays. After graduating, she moved to New York andshe soon found she was collaborating on songs after work with a couple of similarly synth-minded girlfriends, eventually forming officially as the band, Au Revoir Simone.
Setting out on her own, she has taken elements of her band’s sound and spun them into her own brand of bittersweet, sun-bleached pop. Breathing vocals over mesmerizing keyboard phrases, Erika produces an effect that approaches the supernatural, with tough, spring-loaded beats lending gravity to the otherwise hazy, delirious songs.

A three-piece band from Los Angeles who have made a splash in the daunting regime of music.
The Los Angeles-based trio first began in 2011 as a collaborative effort between former Red Sparowes members Emma Ruth Rundle (guitar, vocals) and Greg Burns (bass, keyboards). Showcasing Rundle's exceptional playing more vividly than the dense architecture of the Sparowes could allow, Marriages' departure from purely instrumental rock, too, helped bring her to the forefront, revealing a voice equally fragile and ferocious.

Bridget Battle’s last band might have been a high school choir, but the 21-year-old singer for Cincinnati’s Tweens is no goody two shoes.
Look no further for proof than their recently released Self-Titled LP, the punk-tinged debut from the trash-pop trio, that showcases a melodic, driven and exceedingly catchy sound that’s anything but well behaved. So rat your hair, slip on your leather jacket and hold on tight because Tweens may be young but they’re certainly not naïve, and with the release of this freshman LP, they’re breaking curfew and nobody’s safe.

  132. Vulkano (SWE)
    Artist image
Vulkano is an explosive new duo pushing punk forward in their own charming way. Uncompromising, extrovert and maximalist.
With a passion for astrology, the paranormal and nature, healing stones, tropical landscapes, mythology and mountains, we introduce the constanty head banging Lisa Pyk-Wirström and tour de force, the hissing feline Cissi Efraimsson. For Vulkano, it's really all about their live show, a power unto itself. If they could, they'd have streaming hot bombastic shows containing choreography, costumes, magic tricks and light displays, creating a world where everything is possible.

Spring 2010 saw the demise of Port O’Brien, and founding member/front man Van Pierszalowski needed a break from the hectic, wonderful mess that is touring.
He stumbled into respite in Oslo, Norway, and spent some time away from making music. Van explored the new city, swam in the Norwegian fjords, enjoyed the weather and the experience of seasons changing. He found his bearings and fell in love again.

  135. When Saints Go Machine (DK)
    Artist image
When Saints Go Machine are a hard band to pin down, four young men doing things with electro pop that no one has done before.
The Danish four-piece formed in 2007 are a complicated mix of influences. There’s dance music in there, for sure, but also post punk, some experimental electronica in the Aphex Twin mould, and, crucially, a healthy dose of pop. You could describe the end result as a heady mix of Caribou, The Knife/Fever Ray and Arthur Russell. But, really, it doesn’t sound like anything else out there.

    Artist image
Liberated abandon of their primitive soul strikes an immidiate and invigorating chord hard in the lister.
Mariam Wallentin and Andreas Weliin create their music with constant spontinaiety and exploration into sounds, rythms and instruments as well as a desperation and obsession to create timeless music that addresses the basicalities and essense of life.

  140. XOV (SWE)
    Artist image
With the first beat of Lucifer, XOV draws you in to his dark pop landscape. Discovered by Lorde and described as ”the lovechild between The Weeknd and James Blake”, the Swedish ”superstar in the making” draws influence from modern Hip Hop, 90s R&B and 80s synth pop creating a heavy, diverse sound unlike anything else that’s out there today.
XOV’s writing-style is dark and packed with metaphors, wordplay and uncensored thoughts. The melodies are big and the beats heavy. "All my music is autobiographical. I really admire people who can write a good song that's not connected to real life. But in my case, I've been through a lot, and I haven't had therapy”,

  141. Young Ejecta (USA)
    Artist image
Young Ejecta is an electronic duo based in Brooklyn, NY comprised of singer-songwriter Leanne Macomber (Fight Bite, Neon Indian) and acclaimed producer Joel Ford (Autre Ne Veut, Oneohtrix Point Never, Ford & Lopatin).
Their collaboration began in 2012 when Ford sifted through years of Macomber’s foggy melodic bedroom demos. He, in turn, offered instrumental pieces of his own and a record was in the works. His slick sound and skillful arrangements elevated Macomber’s lo-fi pop ballads, while her acrobatic melodies and whispery vocals gave whimsy and dimension to Ford’s determined beats and dancable textures.

  142. Young Galaxy (CAN)
    Artist image
The winter of 2014/2015 took Young Galaxy from their studio in Montreal to Gothenburg and back.
The band’s brilliant new full length Falsework completes the sound they have been mining on their past two albums Shapeshifting (2011) and Ultramarine (2013) with producer Dan Lissvik (Studio, Atelje). The album is undeniably synth pop without the simplicity and was informed and inspired by 80’s electro, acid house and r&b, music that was well ahead of its time. Falsework was made using machines from the past to sound like music from the future.

Creating an organic blend of contemporary pop, acoustic folk and soulful R&B, combining her engaging voice and expressive songcraft with imaginative production to create wholly distinctive music that’s won her comparisons with the likes of Feist, Adele and Norah Jones.
