  2. Alice Boman (SWE)
    Artist image
Hailing from Malmö, Sweden, the singer/songwriter first appeared when she released 2013’s Skisser via Adrian Recordings. Swedish for “sketches,” Skisser was just that – delicate home recordings from her bedroom Boman gracefully unleashed to the world, that were never meant to fall on any other ears but her own.
Alice Boman’s voice hits with the emotional force and haunting fragility of Nina Simone. Timeless and direct, the Swedish singer returns with a wistful collection of songs on EP II, set to be released June 3.

Being but 17-20 years of age, the three girls have impressively fast found their own place in a genre most often dominated by middleaged men. They play an updated 2013 version of 90′ies stoner rock and grunge, with heavy guitar riffs and screeching vocals, but still draws in references from sludge and heavy metal.

  9. Basia Bulat (CAN)
    Artist image
Breathless, thirsty, dislodged from dreary nostalgia.
Since the age of three, Basia has been sitting on piano stools and trying to hammer things out. It started with her piano-teacher mum, but along the way Basia’s picked up guitar, autoharp, banjo, ukelele, sax and flute. In high-school her instrument was the upright bass – a lone girl among “eight-foot-tall guys, goofing off with the tubas”. There’s a sense of play that still suffuses her music, jostling under the songs of regret and love, want and joy.

Caribou is the one-man project of Dan Snaith. He seamlessly blends electronic production with psychedelic pop pastiche. After the acclaimed grammy-award-winning album "Swim" in 2010, he is now back with "Our Love", released Oct 6/7-2014.
Our Love is formed around a mixture of digital pop production, hip hop inspired beats, muted house basslines and a love of shuffling garage that can be traced all the way back to the time of Start Breaking My Heart which are, of course, all filtered through Dan's own unique perspective. The warm analogue sounds of classic soul should not be overlooked either, for they weave themselves most intensely into the records DNA.

Crooks on Tape is John Schmersal (Enon, Brainiac), Rick Lee (Enon, Skeleton Key, Butter 08), and Joey Galvan. The unscripted band was born out of a simple notion: convene, improvise, and record every moment.
In 2010, the Los Angeles trio assembled a rotating fortress of instruments, synthesizers, samplers, and loopers. Crooks recorded hundreds of hours of material, largely instrumental in its original performance. Fingerprint is the first evidence of this undertaking and a window into the band’s sound. 99. Vulkano (SWE)
    Artist image
Vulkano is an explosive new duo pushing punk forward in their own charming way. Uncompromising, extrovert and maximalist.
With a passion for astrology, the paranormal and nature, healing stones, tropical landscapes, mythology and mountains, we introduce the constanty head banging Lisa Pyk-Wirström and tour de force, the hissing feline Cissi Efraimsson. For Vulkano, it's really all about their live show, a power unto itself. If they could, they'd have streaming hot bombastic shows containing choreography, costumes, magic tricks and light displays, creating a world where everything is possible.

  100. WATERS (USA)
    Artist image
Spring 2010 saw the demise of Port O’Brien, and founding member/front man Van Pierszalowski needed a break from the hectic, wonderful mess that is touring.
He stumbled into respite in Oslo, Norway, and spent some time away from making music. Van explored the new city, swam in the Norwegian fjords, enjoyed the weather and the experience of seasons changing. He found his bearings and fell in love again.

  102. When Saints Go Machine (DK)
    Artist image
When Saints Go Machine are a hard band to pin down, four young men doing things with electro pop that no one has done before.
The Danish four-piece formed in 2007 are a complicated mix of influences. There’s dance music in there, for sure, but also post punk, some experimental electronica in the Aphex Twin mould, and, crucially, a healthy dose of pop. You could describe the end result as a heady mix of Caribou, The Knife/Fever Ray and Arthur Russell. But, really, it doesn’t sound like anything else out there.

    Artist image
Liberated abandon of their primitive soul strikes an immidiate and invigorating chord hard in the lister.
Mariam Wallentin and Andreas Weliin create their music with constant spontinaiety and exploration into sounds, rythms and instruments as well as a desperation and obsession to create timeless music that addresses the basicalities and essense of life.

    Artist image
Hailing from Montreal, Canada, Young Galaxy is the brainchild of Stephen Ramsay (ex-Stars) and Catherine McCandless.
By way of background, both Ramsey and McCandless stem from island roots, from Canada’s Western frontier, that place of rising tides, beach side campfires and fogged-in cedars. Yet, there’s another facet, a cool urbaneness, the measured cadence of a city strut. Years spent in the fertile cosmopolitanism of Montreal have made their mark.
